Frequently Asked Questions

Log Cabins For Sale |  Frequently Asked Questions

Please find below some of our most frequently asked questions, we hope your question can be answered in this section.
However should you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to contact us!.

Q Are the windows/doors glazed with glass or "Perspex"?

A. All our window are supplied with Glass as it is a higher quality product which resists scratches and won't discolour unlike a plastic glazing material.

Q Are door handles and window furniture supplied with the building?

A. Yes, all our opening windows are supplied with handles and door units are supplies with handles and euro lock system.

Q Are you buildings supplied with Bitumen shingle?

A. No. Our buildings are supplied with a 19mm Roof board only, you will require a further roof covering, we would recommend using a heavy duty bitumen shingle, we are supply bitumen shingles at an additional cost. Please call to obtain a price.

Q How Long is delivery?

A. We can typically deliver a building to your door within 6 weeks of you placing the order, should you require delivery within a 'strict' time frame please feel free to contact us. We will contact you approximately 1 week prior to arrange your delivery.

Q How will my log cabin be delivered?

A. Your new log cabin will be delivered to you using a *hiab wagon (*within specified delivery areas). The freight company will drop the building as close to your premises as possible, please be aware you may need some 'extra hands' if your conveinent storage area is not by the roadside. Please be aware our haulage company will allow a 1hr time frame from time of arrival to off load your building, should the delivery exceed this time frame you may incur additional charges from the hauler.

Q What will i need to erect the cabin myself?

A. You will only require basic joinery equipment to install the cabin yourself, the building in the main part will go together without use of any tools, you will also be supplied with a full set of drawings depicting each wall section, so you know exactly where all the timbers are to be positioned. We would recommend you have the following before you begin.

      • Saw
      • Hammer
      • Mallet
      • Nails
      • Screws
      • Battery Drill
      • Spirit Level
      • Square
Our installation guide is available to view here (link opens new window)

Alternatively we may be able to arrange installation by one of our professional installation teams, please contact us for a quote.

Q What kind of base should the log cabin be installed on?

A. The main specification for your base is that it should be STURDY and LEVEL, usually a concrete raft or a well braced timber deck are suitable. Base specification can differ from building to building so if you are uncertain please feel free to contact us and we will provide a specification for your requested building. Your local Builder or landscaper may be able to provide you with a quote for the installation a concrete base, alternatively if you chose to have your building installed by one of our experience teams we can install a timber base for you. Please call us to enquire about pricing.

Q Is the Timber Treated?

A. The cabins are supplied untreated (except for the tanolised floor bearers) and therefore they should be treated as soon as possible. Failure to do so could cause serious damage to the building (especially the doors and windows). Please note that timber is a natural product and will act as such, therefore we cannot guarantee against movement - warping, bowing, cupping and splitting (although this should be limited as all timber is kiln dried before leaving the factory), especially once the packs have been opened and the bare timber is open to the elements. None of the above will affect the finished cabins performance once built and logs are locked into place and treated.

Q Are Floor Bearers Treated??

A. Yes. As the base beam and floor bearers are 'inaccessible' once the building has been installed we ensure these are treated in order to ensure the longevity of your new building, Being treated means that ground moisture will take significantly longer to negatively effect the bottom of the cabin and will reduce rot and insect infestation.

Q How are your building measured???

A.All our building displayed on this web site are measured from 'log-end' to 'log-end' excluding roof overhang.

NOTE: All widths referred to by this web site denote the 'front' or prominent face of the building, this can be the gable or side profile depending upon the design of the building.

Q Where do you deliver to?

A. Pricing on this web site are delivered prices for mainland areas as specified in our terms and conditions. we can however deliver to anywhere within the UK and Ireland.

Q Will my cabin needs adjustments after installation?

A. Once built, log cabins will take approximately 2/3 weeks to "settle down", where the height of the building will reduce by around 25mm. Inevitably this could cause some of the doors/windows to bind slightly, this is easily rectified by using the adjustable hinges to re-align the door/casement. We are not responsible for these adjustments.

Sometimes the frames may need re-squaring as well, again this is easily done by unscrewing the 2 internal side architraves, re-squaring the frame (equalling out all of the clearance gaps around the casement/door), wedge in place and then squirt a small amount of builders foam in each corner. Wait for the foam to set before removing the wedges. Do not use too much foam as the building and frame will still need movement.. .
